Update On Chim-pee-paa

November 30, 2009

Well, my turkey friend survived Thanksgiving – and not only that – my friend, Denise (Chim-pee-paa’s original owner), nursed him back to health from his illness.  He is now a happy camper at his farm! He has a little problem with the hens, as they chase him if he gets too close to them. On the other hand, he chases the horses away from his feed. Go figure. I hate that he had to leave our neighborhood (he made messes on the deck and front proch of Denise’s house!!!!). But he seems to love his new environment.

Denise visited with him yesterday. He heard her car drive up, and he came running to meet her! And when she was leaving, he flew over 2 gates to tell her good=bye.

Now that Chim-pee-paa is back on his feet, I am going to periodically update this blog with personal stories, as well as my knitting projects, and the everyday “happenings” in the life of a knitting shop owner – ME!

Stay tuned! And join me on my other blogs at:

Update on the Turkey

November 5, 2009

Well, my turkey friend got sick last week. He wouldn’t eat or drink anything. So we picked him up from the farm where he now lives, put him in the car and started calling vets. Believe me, it’s hard to find a “big bird” vet. We even called the Univ. of Ga. vet school and couldn’t get any answers – acutally, they were very nice but needed to see Chim-pee-paa (the turkey) before they could diagnose the illness.

Then we called our bird vet – at home (he was off that day) – and he answered the phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He told us where to get the antibiotics that Chim-pee-paa needed – the feed store – and now we think Chim-pee-paa is on his way to being healthy again!

I’ll keep you updated.
